Comeback to Jesus Christ
The Comeback to Christ
May be
at a point in your life you had a good relationship where you were so
fervent for the Lord and zealous in His things. Perhaps you are in
a situation where your relationship with Christ is nowhere to be found. With time you have
realised that your situation has changed and you are now at a point where you have little or no interest in
reading your Bible anymore, praying or even have fellowship with other Christians. You
have tried all you can to return to the Lord but it has been very difficult.
Perhaps you
feel that you are in the rut of life and that God is not able to accept you again.
This might be because you think you have made several promises never to return
to your mess but you kept going back to the places where
you have promised never to go. You now
think that God might not want to accept you back to himself.
Luke 15:17-21 talks about the convictions of the prodigal son and how he set the story right
with his Father.
“When
he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have
food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will
set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against
heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be
called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So
he got up and went to his father.
Today, what
is required of you is a conviction in your heart that you have not walked
in the right way with the Lord. You will need to do this in the spirit of
humility and not of condemnation.
God’s
arms have been flung wide open to receive you again.
Luke 15: 21 painted a
vivid picture of the father’s joy when he saw his long lost son coming. He ran to meet
His prodigal son when he was still far away from home even before he uttered
any apology to his father.
“But
while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with
compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father,
I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be
called your son.’ (You can pick up the full story from Luke 15:11-32).
God is a loving Father who wants His children to come back home. Today, His heart’s
cry is, “Son/daughter, come back home, I have been waiting for you.”
Your Response and Prayer
Father, forgive me for my inadequacies and accept me into your loving arms again,
establish me in my walk with you and keep me within the sphere of your GRACE.
